| SCATTERED
IN THE WIND
1.
When
the autumn leaves turn yellow
And the mood, it swings to mellow
And the time has come
To bid my last farewell
I’ll be over in the morning
Without foul fear or warning
Signalled by the ringing of the bell
Chorus
Let me off at the cross for Garnish
I’ll be alright from now on
This is my final resting
place
This is my final song
Don't stay or try to follow
For you tears, you’ll quickly swallow
When you see my ashes
Scattered in the wind
2.
Oh I
hope I was no trouble
Or did the hypos burst their bubble
That I stuck with my decision
Til the end
Pray the flames may quickly burn
And fill the waiting urn
And we’ll make the journey
To where my spirit sends
3.
You know I will be back some day
In some other form
In some other way
To live a life
From
beginning
To end
And
when the years will tarnish
We’ll make more plans for Garnish
Once more my ashes will be
Scattered in the wind.

THE
FLY UPON THE WALL
1
While walking on Bere Island
One hazy day last year
I chanced upon a ruin
That lay crumbling by the pier
I stopped a while, and pondered
And thought of long ago
Of the people who had lived here
Their happy times and woes.
2
I wonder has life changed much
Have things moved on too fast
Those were happy times
So long ago
Yet so poor by contrast
The people, they didn’t have much
They worked from dawn ‘til dusk
Putting
bread upon the table
Barely earning a crust
Chorus
Did the walls have ears a thousand years ago
Did the people create havoc about things they didn’t know
Did the fly upon the wall
Come back to haunt you all
Did the wishing well grant favours to the foe
3
And as I looked around me
I saw the beauty of the sea
I imagined how those people felt
Each day they lived to be
For money can’t buy beauty
That nature gives for free
And the more we turn to nature
The happier we’ll be.
Repeat
Chorus
4
Before
I left
Bere Island
I took one last look around
I
pictured myself living here
Maybe fishing in the Sound
Oh, I wish I was that fly upon the wall
All those years ago
Just to see how those people lived
But now
I’ll never know
Repeat
Chorus
