3 Island Sponsored Swim

Gda. Adrian Byrne who was first to reach home base

Despite the weather conditions which made the sea difficult, eight swimmers participated in the Three Island Charity Swim which took place on Sunday last. The swim was from Bere Island to Minane Island and then to Dinish Island, a distance of over two and a half miles. The charity to benefit from the sponsored swim is the Day Care Centre attached to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Castletownbere. The swimmers had to touch each of the islands and then swim to the slip at Castletownbere. Thanks was extended to all swimmers, the boat people who accompanied them and to Capt. Chris Dennison, Harbour Master, for all the help he gave during the swim.
