Pictured above are some of the group being sent off by Mrs. Kathleen MacCarthy (2nd from left) also a member of CARA but not going on trip are: l-r
Crissie Harrington, Kathleen, Kay Harrington, Eileen Harrington, Sheila Holland all from Castletownbere and Theresa Sullivan from Bere Island.

Also heading to Killarney were (l-r) Nora Crowley, Ardgroom, Nancy Lowney and Dr. Sheila Murphy, Castletownbere

This afternoon Eight Excited Ladies from the Castletownbere Active Retirement Association (CARA) headed towards Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney to spend Christmas 2000 in the lap of luxury. All great journeys start with a step and the step in this case took the fashion of a Christmas Tipple in MacCarthys Bar.  Their chauffeur, Martin Shanahan of Atlantic Cabs, was on hand to sweep the Ladies on their merry way and felt that a sing song would shorten the journey.

The group have being planning the trip since summertime and were evidently delighted that the day had finally arrived.  Included in the planned festivities are a Champagne Reception, a Christmas Eve Gala Dinner, a Kris Kindle gift exchange as well as the traditional Christmas Day Dinner.

Lets hope that these trend setting Ladies have a very happy and memorable Christmas together.
