Barry Harrington Cycles to raise funds for Kenya

Local business man, Barry Harrington, owner of Old Bank Seafood Restaurant and Accommodation, set off on Sunday last (19th Aug) from Castletownbere at 9.30 a.m., to cycle to Kenmare to fundraise for his brother Bishop Patrick Harrington's Dioscese - Lodwar in Kenya.  The monies raised will go towards a building fund in Lodwar for a communal building which will be used by the parishoners as a Church, School, Dispensary, Community Hall.  Facilities such as these are badly lacking there.

Barry was joined by a number of cyclists - family and friends and by a group of supporters and collectors.  His first call was to Eyeries where he was greeted well.  Next it was on to Ardgroom, his birthplace and that of his brother, where the welcome was even greater.  On further to the Síbin, in Lauragh where they rested for half an hour.  Onwards to the Lake House, the Sailor's Bar before reaching his final destination - Kenmare - at 4.30 p.m.

Donations collected during the way amounted to 750 punts and coupled with the sponsor cards around Beara and beyond to be collected still - Barry is very pleased with the result.  Anyone wishing to lodge money direct to the account can do so also.  The account no. is 10904001 Sort Code: 93-62-78 - Allied Irish Banks, Castletownbere.

Barry wishes to thank everyone who supported him and donated to this cause.
