Cametringane Hotel Re-Opens

On Friday night, November 23rd, the doors of the only hotel in Castletownbere, re-opened its doors under new management and ownership. Joseph Harrington and his wife Elizabelth along with Ebbie Sheehan and his wife Sheila purchased the hotel from the O'Driscoll family who were the owners for the past four and a half years. Under that ownership, the hotel was named Ford Ri, but the new owners decided to re-name it to its original name of Cametringane Hotel when it was owned by Gerald & Maura McCarthy. Between these names, it was called Craigie's Hotel, with Ramor & Inki Craigie as owners at that time.
A huge crowd gathered on the night, to wish the new owners the best of luck in their new venture . They were greeted by a complimentary drink and a friendly welcome and with some buffet food later on in the night. Music was supplied by Ashley & Noreen followed by a Disco with DJ 'Cro' and a fantastic night was had by all.
Joseph is no stranger to this industry, coming from seven years as Manager of Berehaven Golf Club and prior to that, Manager of the Beara Bay Hotel - when it was in full swing. He will be able assisted by his wife Elizabeth who is always on hand - to lend a hand. Ebbie & Sheila Sheehan, are the owners of Allihies Holiday Homes, a series of newly-built holiday homes in Allihies where they also run a very successful riding stables. Ebbie is the owner of 3 fishing trawlers as well as a Chandlery Business on Dinish Island. Both Ebbie & Joseph grasped the opportunity of purchasing these premises and will endeavour to try to meet the needs of the community over the coming years by extending to cater for large functions and weddings which are currently going to Kenmare, Glengarriff and Bantry, causing a huge economic loss to the area. Well done to you all and the very best of luck for the future.
