Trials - held during the Garnish Family Festival - Sunday 6th August.
1st.
James Hegarty, Kilgarven, Killarney, Co. Kerry became this years Beara Driver of
the Year with an amazing time of 55.03 seconds.
This was the first time in 18 years that the title has gone to a Kerry
driver.
2nd.
David Regan, of Castletownbere, came a
close second on 56 seconds
3rd.
Niall Tim O' Sullivan, Castletownbere.
4th.
Denis McCarthy, Kilgarven, gave an
excellent race finishing on 51 seconds but unfortunately having two faults –
he ended up in 4th place.
5th.
Ollie Rua O' Sullivan, Garnish, who
gave a rousing speech telling the Kerry lads to watch out because the Beara
drivers would be back on form next year.
6th.
John Robert O' Sullivan, Castletownbere
7th.
Paddy Owen O' Sullivan, Castletownbere,
who caused quite a stir by entering a brand new car in the trials.
8th.
Sean Pad O' Sullivan, Castletownbere,
had a brilliant race but was unfortunate in that things went wrong for him in
the second round.
9th.
Daniel Rua O' Sullivan, Garnish, -
Betty Rua was a very proud woman on Sunday evening.
10th.
Finbarr Harrington, Garnish, who was
last year's winner had a very good first round of 59.15 seconds but his car let
him down badly in the second round.
11th.
Brian Owen O' Sullivan, Castletownbere.
12th.
David Dudley, Castletownbere, who
caused quite a stir all round with his antics behind the wheel.
