RNLI Lifeboat towing the stricken trawler 'Northern Star' into Castletownbere

On Sunday night, the Lifeboat was launched in response to a collision at the Harbour Entrance with a local Trawler, MFV 'Fiona Patricia' and a barge, being towed by a smaller vessel.  The Trawler is now on the Synchrolift for extensive repairs but thankfully nobody was hurt. The Lifeboat was crewed by: Coxswain Tony O'Sullivan, Emergency Coxswain, Michael Martin-Sullivan Snr., Mechanic, Marnie O'Donoghue, and Crew Michael Martin-Sullivan Jnr., Michael Murphy, Laurie Griffin and Jimmy Murphy.

Early this morning, (Wed. 23rd Aug) another call out was issued by Bantry Radio for the Lifeboat to assist a Trawler - 8 miles west of the Bull Rock, in a blustery South Easterly wind.  The Trawler - 'Northern Star' , owned by Ray Holland, lost power and was towed into Castletownbere some 10 hours later by the Lifeboat (pictured above)  The Lifeboat was crewed by: Coxswain Tony O'Sullivan, Emergency Coxswain, Michael Martin-Sullivan Snr., Mechanic, Brendan Gonnelly, Emergency Mechanic, Marnie O'Donoghue, and Crew Michael Martin-Sullivan Jnr. and Laurie Griffin.
