Fishermen Continue to Protest

Fishermen and families continue to protest at being victimised by Irish Government.

Castletownbere Fishermen and their families continued their peaceful protest at Dinish Bridge today to let the Government know that they will not be ignored anymore.

Since the Tuna Fishery opened last month, 4 boats have been arrested by the Naval Service and despite assurances by the Department yesterday that this was not the case, one of these boats was arrested last night.   Fishermen in Dingle, Co. Kerry have also mounted a protest and have blocked their port today.

Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources, Frank Fahy, have agreed to meet fishermen's leaders tomorrow to discuss the situation.

Fish unloaded yesterday at Castletownbere were today transferred back on board the Spanish vessels, who have since left the port.
