O'Shea's Bar (Del Marineiro) Re-Opens

The notice on the door reads "Opened but not finished".  O'Shea's Bar has been closed since last month - to undergo a major refurbishment - encorporating the existing bar with rooms that were adjacent to it.  The result is fantastic, resulting in a spacious bar with full air-conditioning giving the punter comfort while he/she 'sups'.  The 'not finished' part of the notice means that some painting is still outstanding and the pictures are to be re-hung on the wall - nothing else.  Last Friday evening at 8.00pm the doors re-opened for business as usual and locals and visitors alike joind in wishing Gerry and Betty (pictured on left) all the best.

New door opening to allow for wheelchair access.  There is also a wheelchair accessible toilet installed (Cork Co. Council please take note - you promised Castletownbere to upgrade/build Public Toilets to incorporate a Wheelchair accessible Toilet five years ago - we are now in the New Millennium and we are still waiting - not good enough). One of O'Shea's loyal locals:
Peadar Lowney, Castletownbere, pictured on Fri. night at the re-opening proudly sporting an O'Shea's Polo Shirt. and enjoing his pint.
Pictured left - the main area of the bar - with plenty of room.

The main bar is tastefully finished with natural polished wood which is also continued in the bar stools, tables and low stools.  When fully completed/decorated, the ambiance of the old bar will blend into the new and make it a very relaxing and comfortable place to meet friends and enjoy your 'tipple' be it water, a mineral, coffee or something stronger.
A large T.V. is also installed for the important sports events during the year.

Congratulation and the very best of luck for the future to Gerry, Betty & Christina.
