Sharon Shannon draws huge Crowd - despite the rain

Despite heavy rain on Fri. 10th August
during the Festival of the Sea, huge crowds turned up to hear Sharon
Shannon and her band perform open air at the Square in Castletownbere
- and they weren't disappointed. She played her heart out as
did her band and really got the crowd going. Teddy Black was on
hand once again to introduce her to the crowd. Thankfully, half
way through her performance the rain eased and even more turned
up. Dessie O'Halloran, who was accompanying her on tour sang a few
songs - among them being the very old number 'Come Down from the
Mountain Katie Daly'. The fiddle and music box numbers had the
punters dancing in the Square. Anne Marie Cronin, secretary of the
Castletownbere Business Development Association, who organised the
festival, thanked everyone for turning up, the businesses who
contributed to the festival, Teddy Black and of course Sharon Shannon
and her entourage. As the crowd shouted for more, Sharon didn't
disappoint them and played well over time.
