TG4 Currently Filming in Eyeries
There is great excitement in the very popular picturesque village of Eyeries today as filming starts on 'Iníon an Fhiachlóra' (The Dentist's Daughter), penned by local writer Jackie O'Neill. Jackie, whose parents both come from Beara, her father was the late Mick O'Neill from Eyeries Cross and her mother is Sheila (O'Driscoll) from Kilcatherine. They returned from England some 12 years ago to settle back in their native home. Not only was the script written by Jackie, she is also directing the production.
Filming will continue until July 3rd. There are six Main Cast characters with local 'extras' also being recruited for the film. Eyeries and Kilcatherine are the two main areas being filmed. The short film will be 30 minutes duration and will be shown during the Cork Film Festival and screened on TG4 in the Autumn. Breandán Goss, Producer, was relaxed and confident when spoken to earlier this morning as all was going well and according to plan.
Eyeries is continuing to grow in popularity as a location for films, T.V. Series and Commercials. Previous productions there included 'Purple Taxi', 'Moondance' 'Falling for a Dancer', the 'Bord Failte' Commercial and 'Early Winter' - also written, Produced and Directed by Maximillian le Cain who resides in Beara.
Will Beara become the next 'Ballyk' ? - who knows!
