The group departed Castletownbere at 7.00 am on Friday morning and travelled to their host club, Ballylinan which is on the Laois Carlow border. Their first game was against the host club which Beara won on a score of 2-13 to 1-2.  The parade was held in Carlow and this was a spectacular sight with 124 groups taking part.  On Saturday morning, Beara took on Leixlip and won well on a score of 4-8 to 0-2.  The final game in the qualifying series was against Kilmovee Shamrocks of Mayo.  In an extremely physical game, Beara emerged comfortable winners on a score of 2-10 to 1-1.

The semi-final was held at Tinryland against Donaghmoyne of Monaghan and the final score was 2-7 to 1-2 in favour of Beara.  The final was held in Dr. Cullen Park on Sunday against Fingallians of Dublin.  This was a thrilling contest which earned the Beara girls the highest honour on a score of  0-8 to 0-2.  It was a proud Áine O'Sullivan who accepted the All Ireland Cup from Walter Thompson of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association.

Amanda Murphy.jpg (40420 bytes) Amanda Murphy was the overall winner of the skills competition and this is in fact her second year in a row to take this honour The other competitors in the Skills finals were:- Girls Division 2 - Teresa Marron of Curry, Co. Sligo. Boys - Six Divisions:-  Thomas McGovern of New York, Mark Finnegan of St. Lawrences,  Co. Kildare, Padraig Amond of Michael Davitts, Co. Mayo, Edward Kelly of O'Dempseys, Co. Laois, Conor McGourty of St. Galls, Co. Cavan and Brian Nolan of Mount Leinster Rangers, Co. Carlow.
It was a jubilant homecoming with banners and bonfires blazing all along the route to welcome this victorious team.  For some of these girls, this is the third All Ireland victory in as many years -  In 2000 they brought home the Division 2 Féile Cup, last year the Community Games girls won the All Ireland Under 12 title and this year Division 1 Féile title.  This is surely an achievement which is unlikely to be equalled and these girls should be given the credit they richly deserve.

Congratulations to Managers, Mike Murphy and Mary Lehane and especially to all the panel:-  Linda Murphy, Fionnuala Murphy, Vicki Power, Emma Hanley, Emma Murphy, Áine O'Sullivan (Captain), Claire O'Sullivan, Laura Power, Orla Green, Ann Daly, Amanda Murphy, Catríona O'Neill, Niamh O'Sullivan, Eimear O'Dwyer, Ciara Murphy, Áine G.
