Launch of Aidan Con O'Sullivan Trust Fund
On Monday night last Feb. 18th, at Beamish & Crawford Brewery, Cork, the official launch of the Aidan Con O'Sullivan Trust Fund was held, before a prestigious gathering. Minister for Health, Micheál Martin visited briefly to offer his support to Aidan and also to the fund, before he went to another engagement that evening.

| Sean Ó Sé (pictured above), M.C., for the evening, welcomed everyone before passing the microphone over to the Chairman of the Fund, Tony Carey, (pictured left) Adrigole GAA. Tony outlined the history of events that led to the set-up of the fund, stating that Aidan was a very promising football player and a very avid GAA man before his unfortunate accident. He complimented Aidan on his courage and determination in overcoming the very serious injury he sustained last May and wished him continued recovery in his re-habilitation over the coming months. | |

The President of GAA, Sean McCague, before he officially launched the Fund, said that he was speaking with Aidan earlier and he complimented him on his very strong will and resilience in overcoming this unfortunate accident. He stated that the GAA were often involved in Funds such as this one, as the organisation is one of the strongest all over the country, being in every parish, town land and suburb in the country. He also stated that accidents such as Aidan's were rare within the sport, fortunately and it was only right that the GAA give 100% support to this Fund. He spoke of how the GAA were a caring organisation and that it was a great movement for the good of the people. Mr. McCague spoke of how that 'in giving that we receive' and how it makes us all proud to be part of making someone's unfortunate luck more comfortable for them to overcome and help them succeed in their quest to get on with their lives. He wished the fund-raising events every success and wished Aidan the very best for the future. |
