WEST CORK SELECTION FOR ROSE OF TRALEE
The
inaugural West Cork Rose Selection will take place at the Westlodge
Hotel, Bantry on Friday 15th March with proceeds going
towards the Aidan Con O'Sullivan Trust Fund.
Paudie Palmer of 103FM County Sound will put 17 entrants,
representing various businesses from all over West Cork through their
paces on stage on the night.
Two finalists will go forward to the Cork Selection for the Rose
of Tralee next month.
The idea was the brainchild of Chairman, Colman O'Sullivan,
Eyeries, who himself was involved as an Escort for the Rose of Tralee
for the last number of years and is a personal friend of Aidan.
The
main sponsors of the event are McGurn Construction Ltd., Castletownbere
and Super Valu, West Cork for whom the organising committee wish to
extend their heartfelt thanks.
Each participating business, as well as putting forward an
entrant, also paid an entrance fee of €300 towards the event. Each
entrant will receive a special Cork Crystal memento, sponsored by
Murphy’s SuperValu, Castletownbere plus the two finalists receiving a
piece of Ryanhart Sculpture, sponsored by Jimmy Barry Motors, Bantry,
and a cheque for
€200.
Affiliate sponsors include Havanna Boutique, Cork, Westlodge
Hotel and Damien O'Neill Construction from Bantry, Beara Action Group,
Castletownbere, Guinness Ireland,
as well as a host of other prizes being donated for a raffle and
spot prizes on the night. The
committee are delighted to confirm that one of the highlights of the
night will be the attendance of the reigning 'Rose of Tralee', Lisa
Manning, from Perth, Australia, who will be in Ireland attending various
St. Patrick's Day Celebrations. This event will be one of her
first Official Functions as 'Rose of Tralee'. Music
on the night will be supplied by 'Murphy's Men' followed by a Disco with
DJ Socky and the proceedings kicks off at 8.30 p.m. sharp.
Tickets at €15 are available throughout West Cork or at the
door on the night. If you wish to travel by bus/hackney from Castletownbere - please contact Mossie O'Donoghue at 087 2671349 or Martin Shanahan at 086 2461877 for details of availability, times, etc. Click on images to view larger photos. |
