Cornelius J. O’Neill  

Cornelius J. O’Neill, 82, of Iroquois Dr., Warwick, RI USA, a retired caretaker, died December 27, 2003.  He was the husband of M. Adelaide (Harrington) O’Neill.

Born in Castletown Bere, County Cork, Ireland, a son of the late Jeremiah and Margaret (Kelly) O’Neill of Gour, Castletown Bere, he arrived in the USA in June 1948 and settled in Providence, RI.  He had resided in Warwick, RI since 1954. 

Mr. O’Neill had been caretaker of Our Lady of Providence Seminary in Warwick Neck for 33 years before retiring in 1986.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Jeremiah T. O’Neill of Watertown, MA; three daughters, Margaret M. O’Neill of E. Taunton, MA, Kathleen A. O’Neill of Warwick, and Eileen M. Callahan of Portsmouth, RI; three brothers, Gerard O’Neill of Bishopstown, County Cork, Hugh O’Neill of Greystones, County Wicklow and the Rev. Donal O’Neill of Carrignavar, County Cork, Ireland; three sisters, Una Dennehy and Anna Mullins, both of Castletown Bere, and Margaret O’Sullivan of Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland; and three grandchildren, Shane Callahan, Julia Callahan and Liam Callahan and 39 nieces and nephews.  He was the father of the late Cornelius J. O’Neill Jr. and Francis O’Neill, and the brother of the late Jack O’Neill, Kitty O’Neill and Mary O’Sullivan.

The funeral was held Tuesday, December 30 from Peter J. Barrett Funeral Home, Warwick RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Kevin Church, Warwick, RI.  Burial was in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, RI.
