The Contestants for this years Beara Rose Selection met last night at the Forge Niteclub where they began to get to know one another and socialised.  Murphy's Men were the entertainers for the night and Joe O'Sullivan (Carraig) did the honour of picking the names from the hat to determine the sequence of who was to go on stage first etc. on Sunday night.  Following this the girls mingled with the locals and visitors alike and had fun singing along with the band and dancing to their music and later on at the Disco.

Today, after checking into the totally refurbished Beara Bay Hotel, compliments of owner Larry Lawless, they set off in O'Donoghue's Bus, ably driven by Jimmy Lowney to tour Beara.  Ther first stop will be in  Glengarriff, calling in to Bernard Harrington's - so that they can wish their representative the best of luck.  They will have some light refreshments here and will then be whisked off to Allihies, calling to O'Neill's Bar & Restaurant where they will have a light meal.  They will later call into Cametringane Hotel before retiring to the Beara Bay to freshen up.  Their first port of call tonight will be at The Usual, followed later on to O'Donoghues before their visit to the Skipper's Bar in the Beara Bay - a quick stop into Twomeys and  finally fininshing the night at the Beacon's Niteclub.

Tomorrow, at 2.30pm the girls will participate in the St. Patrick's Day Parade.  Then it is down to business and the individual interviews with the judging panel takes place.  Judges this year are,  Jackie Lomasney, SuperValu, Aidan McGurn, McGurn Construction, Sean O'Brien, Winner of Treasure Island, Bea Duffy, Finalist in Treasure Island and Ann O'Sullivan.  Following the interviews, it will be time to relax and have a light meal at Cametringane Hotel before returning to glamour themselves for the final climax of the week-end - THE FINAL SELECTION OF THE 2003 BEARA ROSE.  This will take place at the Beara Bay - Beacon's Niteclub and Paudie Palmer will interview the girls on stage.   During the interval, tickets will be sold - with numerous sponsored prizes on offer.  A full list of sponsors, affilliate sponsors and donations will be published next week - for which the committee are extremely grateful.  The support has been wonderful.
