ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE 2003 Once again the weather was kind to the organisers, participants and spectators this year when a record crowd turned out - both to take part and to view the very popular annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Castletownbere. The sun shone, the skies were blue and the breeze was 'fresh'. The organisers - Castletownbere Business Development Association and Beara IFA held the parade on the day before Patrick's Day - to facilitate the large number of people who visited the area during the week-end. A Pipe-Band from Cullen led the Parade and Pat Holland kept the crowd entertained, along with Compere Teddy Black in the Square while the parade weaved its way to the top of the town - around the Bakery Cafe and back down again. The following is a taste of some of the floats and participants this year. Click on image to enlarge - use the back arrow on browser to return to this page. Please be patient while page loads and there are a lot of photos to view. The overall winner of the Parade was from Castletownbere Fishermen's Co-Op - 'Moby & the Whalers' - Photos no. 12 & 13
