Saturday 5th June
2004 at St. Kentigerns Church Eyeries saw the wedding of Ann Marie
Power, Coulaghard, Eyeries to Darren Turner formerly of Kings Langley,
Watford, Herts; England. The ceremony was beautifully and movingly
performed by Fr. Brendan Walsh, Tralee formerly Curate to
Castleltownbere and now Parish Priest of Anauscaul, Dingle and assisted
by Fr. Eamonn Mulvhill, PP Eyeries.
Ann Marie, who is the eldest daughter of Michael (RIP) & Mary Power,
Coulaghard was given away by her mother - in the stead of her father who
passed away in November 2002, to Darren who is the only son of Philip
and Susan Turner, Cornwall, England.
Ann Marie looked absolutely radiant in her ivory full length Bronteisque
gown and full length Cathedral veil carrying a bouquet of red roses. She
was assisted by her sister Caroline as Chief Bridesmaid who flew in from
the Isle of Skye, Scotland for the occasion and best friends Ann
O'Sullivan Rua, Cahirkeem and Sinead O'Sullivan John L Cahermore. The
girls wore full length gowns of forest green and carried bouquets of
calla lilies. Flower Girls were Fiona Hartnett, Ballincollig and Saoirse
Power, Glengarriff.
Darren who looked equally handsome in a black velvet dress suit was
attended by his best friends Matt Kent as Best Man, also Ian Bevan and
Andrew Bateman as Ushers. Page boy was Matthew Anthony, Bournemouth. All
flew in from England with the exception of Ian who resides in Cork.
Guests from Ireland, UK and USA were in great spirits at the reception
which was held in The Eccles Hotel Glengarriff where a fantastic and
plentiful meal was served. They were welcomed initially by Shane
Keating, Midleton playing the uileann pipes and after the meal everyone
danced the night away to Deja Vu from Cork.
The couple spent their honeymoon on a Scandinavian Cruise aboard The
Jewel of the Seas which included visits to Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm,
Helsinki, St. Petersburg and Tallinn. The ship has subsequently docked
at Ringaskiddy as part of its tour of the WISE islands.
The couple met 4 years ago in England when they both worked together for
Huntleigh Healthcare in Luton, Bedfordshire. They both moved back to
Ireland and are now residing in Glanmire, Co. Cork.
