Castletownbere Greets new RNLI Lifeboat

old_greeting_new.jpg (16290 bytes) The people of Castletownbere and surrounding area were out in huge numbers to greet the new Severn Class RNLI Lifeboat - Annette Hutton - which arrived into the port following the Annual Regatta on Monday last - August 2nd.  A huge flotilla of boats - large and small - went out the harbour to greet the new vessel and escorted her in to the port to a rapturous welcome.  The crew on board - Coxswain Brian O'Driscoll, Mechanic, Brendan Gonnolly, 2nd Coxswain Michael Martin-Sullivan, Deputy 2nd Coxswain, Paul Stevens and 3rd Mechanic, Paddy O'Conor brought the boat from Poole, Dorset, departing on Friday last and stopping off at Weymouth, Falmouth, Baltimore and finally Castletownbere on Monday evening along Divisional Inspector Ireland, Colin Williams and Divisional Engineer Ireland, David Murren.  They were greeted by the relief lifeboat Murray Lornie - crewed by Emergency Coxswain, Michael Murphy, Deputy Mechanic Marney O'Donoghue and crew members Micheal Martin-Sullivan, Lorraine Murphy, Morgan O'Sullivan, Darren Morsley, Martin Cronin, Dan Murphy, Sean O'Sullivan, Michael O'Sullivan, Una Ni Charra, Joseph O'Sullivan, and Philip O'Driscoll.  Crew member Adrian Sparrow greeted the lifeboat with his own angling boat along with crew member Lili Zwann.
