Message in a Bottle

Vince Harrington with the bottle - at Pulleen Harbour

On February 3rd last, Vince Harrington, Gour, Castletownbere, retrieved a plastic bottle from the strand at Pulleen.  Inside the bottle was a note, rolled up and held together by elastic bands - and bone dry. When he opened up the message it read as follows:

"29-11-2003

Hello There

If you find this bottle, please send me word, let me know by email

Ireland - and the Beara Peninsula in Red - where the Bottle ended up

My email is rioo@online.no

Is on a fishing boat at Newfoundland, fishing shrimp, on a Norwegian Boat.

Give me some words when you find this bottle.

Thank You."

The bottle 'sailed' the Atlantic in just 66 days - finding it's way into the peaceful harbour of Pulleen, near Castletownbere.  This is not the only bottle Vince has found at Pulleen - with messages in them.  However, with the power of the internet, he is hoping that contact will be made eventually with the sender.  The speed of the which the bottle made its way to Ireland, proves the power of the seas.
