PRESS RELEASE BY DEVELOPER JOHN BURKE
11th March 2004
RE: Development @ Castletownbere/Objection by Neil
Jordan
The first instance in which I learned of Mr.
Jordan's demand for a "covenant" was when I read it in the
newspaper last week
I am ready and willing to sign any reasonable undertaking,
assurance or indeed "covenant" which would be to Mr. Jordan's
satisfaction.
I would prefer if Mr. Jordan would communicate with me
either directly or through our legal advisors, as I find it unsatisfactory
communicating through the media. I do not have the time or resources
to employ press agents, publicists or public relations personnel etc..
Mr Jordan was profiled in an article in the Irish edition
of the Sunday Times on Sunday last (7th of March 2004). That
article referred to Mr. Jordan's objections to the proposed development by
me at Castletownbere. That article stated that Mr. Jordan's
objection was based on the belief that the development would undermine the
character of the rural and coastla community outside Castletownbere and
then went on to say "but the motivation behind it is to maintain a
distance and protect his seclusion".
I therefore wonder if this is the real reason for his
objection to my proposed development and that the matter of the concern
for the swimming pool is a "red herring".
I await the terms of the covenant to be signed and
confirmation that this is the only outstanding matter of concern to Mr.
Jordan.
Signed: John Burke.
